Local Dining Out Report for March 2016

Wednesday 23rd March 2016

Sadly we had one or two of our regular diners struck down with colds or flu during the day on Wednesday. However after a few phone calls we were pleased to find some new people to take their places. Our number remained at 24 diners, just right to fill the cosy restaurant at The King's Head. Within our group we were pleased to welcome six new diners from Woodgreen, Woodfalls and Downton. Some of these people had seen our article in the local magazine and asked to join us.

We all had time to sit and enjoy our drinks with plenty of conversation before our main courses arrived. As we have come to expect at The King's Head they were really exceptional. Steak & Kidney pie, Cod Fillet, Confit of Duck, Belly Pork, Lasagne and a vegetarian Filo Parcel. After a short break our desserts arrived and again, just perfect Apple Pie, Plum Tart, Profiteroles, Chocolate Brownie, Cheese & Biscuits and a lovely Raspberry & White Chocolate Pavlova.

We had a really good selection of prizes for our raffle. With an Easter theme we had chocolates, an Easter Egg, a basket of colourful polyanthus, a lovely wooden trug containing a bunch of daffodils and other Easter gifts, red wine, white wine and a gift selection.

Most of the prizes had been donated by different diners which really helped to reduce costs and improve the amount we could add to our ShelterBox fund. We raised a total of £50.00 and our total fund for the ShelterBox charity now stands at £135.67.

Our thanks must go to Sandy and her team at The King's Head, Redlynch for providing us with a really enjoyable evening. Also to everyone who came along and supported us, not forgetting those people who donated prizes for the raffle.

Our next Local Dining Out Group event will be our visit to the Watercress Railway on Sunday 10th April 2016. All the tickets have been sold but we do have a waiting list just in case anyone cannot make it at the last minute. We will be contacting everyone about coach pickup times nearer to the event.

Moving on to the next month, May we have organised to dine at The New Forest Inn at Emery Down, near Lyndhurst on Wednesday 25th May. We will be limited to 35 tickets and they are on sale now. TICKET INFORMATION
