Local Dining Out Report for October 2014

Thursday 23rd October 2014

Surma Valley Restaurant

All aboard the coach! - around 7pm, we all packed onto the little 24 seater coach in the car park at the Horse & Groom in Woodgreen for the short journey through to Breamore and down to the Surma Valley Restaurant on the outskirts of Fordingbridge.

Three more people joined us at the restaurant and our group of 26 people bought their drinks at the bar and claimed their seats at a long table laid for all of us near the bar

Everyone was soon chatting away and the evening got into full swing with the arrival of the pre-starter of popadams and four choices of chutneys.

Ali and his team were ever attentive making sure that everyone had what they needed. We were asked for our choices of Starters from Onion Bhaji, Chicken & Lamb Tikka, Somosa (meat or veg) or Sheek Kabab. These arrived a little later and we ordered our main courses.

The main course, choices from Chicken, Meat or Prawn as Korma (mild) Bhuna (medium0 or Jalfrazie (fairly hot) or Vegetable Korma (medium) was followed by the choice of tea or coffee provided with an individual chocolate.

Although we had intended to leave at 11pm the consensus was that it had been a good evening and having eaten plenty and drunk well eveyone was happy to leave a little earlier than planned at 10:15pm. Our coach supplied by Herringtons got us safely back to the Horse & Groom around 10:30pm.

Our thanks go to Ali at the Surma Valley Restaurant for a really good evening and to Alan from Herringtons Coaches for providing a safe journey there and back.

We welcome any comments from the evening that we can publish along with this report. This has given us a lot of of ideas for organising possible future dining trips to other venues in 2015.
