We return to The White Hart at Bishopstone which is a traditional 18th century family pub and restaurant run by Tom & Zara. In the winter months there are normally 3 real fires to keep you cosy whilst you dine. Their delicious food is home cooked by Tom and his team. A brilliant atmosphere!

Local Dining Out Group Monthly Charity Raffle:

 


On Wednesday 27th February 2019 we will be supporting the local charity
Wilton Riding for the Disabled with our monthly raffle.


Riding is a challenging and stimulating experience, which builds confidence and works wonders on muscle strength, balance and coordination and general fitness – it is fantastic therapy for huge range of disabilities. 

It is also great fun, give tremendous sense of achievement and builds self-esteem.  RDA cater for both school groups and individuals and lessons are tailored accordingly.  They can offer Hippotherapy and have a qualified physiotherapist as one of our volunteers who specialises in riding therapy. 

A lesson last from about 15 to 40 minutes and can include time in the indoor and outdoor school or even a hack out in to the glorious woodland adjoining the centre. Their instructors are fully qualified and each rider has up to 3 volunteers with them - one leading the horse, and side walker(s) for additional help and assurance. 

The horses and ponies are all very carefully selected for their temperament, but some are capable of for example jumping for those who want to take their riding further. RDA riding days are very sociable for everyone involved and above all FUN!  

In 1942 Charles (Nobby) Clarke offered the use of his horses at Grovely Riding School to help with the rehabilitation of wounded servicemen from Heale House, then a convalescent home. Gradually the School attracted more local people with disability, including children with Down’s Syndrome and patients from the Old Manor Hospital.  In 1965 a regular Wednesday group was started with children from the Handicapped Children’s Unit at Odstock Hospital. 

In 1975 when Grovely Riding School was sold this charitable activity moved, with the generous support of the Earl & Countess of Pembroke, to a new base at the Old Riding School at Wilton House with Pat Burgess as its energetic sole instructor. 

The Group eventually became affiliated to the national RDA charity and, by 1985; it had become large enough to require a dedicated site of its own.  The Pembroke Estate very generously provided space for it nearby.  After a massive fundraising exercise the new site, based around a large purpose-designed indoor school, was set up and ‘The Pembroke Centre’ was born.  

We now have over 140 riders a term and a team of over 200 fantastic volunteers.  The centre is managed by  a group of very 'hands on' Trustees 

 

Price:

Your ticket for our February 2019 dinner will cost £28.00 per person.
(This includes your travel to the restaurant, a Two Course Dinner and tips for our driver and the restaurant staff)

Please try not to leave it until this date as we may be fully booked.

Tickets will be allocated on a first booked and paid basis.
It may be necessary to return bookings if received after we have sold out. It would be a good idea to enquire first before sending
your booking/payment the nearer we get to the 20th February 2018
(If tickets remain unsold, later bookings may be accepted depending upon how near we are to the 27th February and whether the restaurant will
accept more bookings.)


IMPORTANT: We cannot guarantee any refunds for late cancellations, after the 20th February, unless we have diners on a waiting list
who will not only take the place but also the menu choices you made.

[CRAB] Breaded Crab & King Prawn Arancini served on Broccoli Linguine in a Cream Fish Velouté topped with Truffle Infused Pea Shoots.

[CHICKEN] Poached Chicken Breast in a Butter Bean, Chorizo & Tomato Casserole served with Creamy Mashed Potato & Wilted Spinach.

[LAMB] Tender Hampshire Lamb Shank in a Tomato, Rosemary & Mint Sauce served with Crushed New Potatoes & Braised Red Cabbage.

[PORK] Pork Tenderloin stuffed with Prunes & Spinach wrapped in Streaky Bacon with a Wild Mushroom Sauce, Horseradish Mash & Wilted Spinach.

[TART] Mediterranean Tart topped with a Basil & Pumpkin Seed Crumb served with Minted Crushed New Potatoes & Mixed Leaf Salad.
