The Trusty Servant Inn is in the centre of the quintessential country village overlooking the green, with its own stocks and memorial. This Country Pub with great freshly prepared, home cooked food, local real ales and very large garden, welcomes walkers, cyclists, children, dogs and coach parties.

Local Dining Out Group Monthly Charity Raffle:

On Wednesday 21st March we will be supporting the Downton Link charity with the proceeds from our raffle.

a034c7f97f295c49eb9bef7ea51e9953.png Downton Link, known locally simply as “The Link”, is now in its 22nd year and is part of a network of over 40 Link Schemes across Wiltshire providing transport to hospitals, medical appointments and other necessary journeys for elderly and vulnerable people who are unable to use public transport or where public transport is not available.

Our catchment area is Downton and Redlynch and surrounding villages including Woodgreen and Breamore to the south and Charlton-All-Saints to the north. Our service is provided entirely by volunteers and if you are able to offer a few hours a week, at times and on days to suit you, and join us as a volunteer driver we should be delighted to hear from you.

Your ticket for our March 2018 dinner will cost £27.00 per person.
(This includes your travel to the restaurant, a Two Course Dinner and tips for our driver and the restaurant staff)

Booking Cut-Off Time

We need to receive your booking, menu choices and payment by early evening on:
Wednesday 14th March 2018
Please try not to leave it until this date as we may be fully booked.


Tickets will be allocated on a first booked and paid basis. Our tickets will be limited to around 30 because of the size of the coach.
It would be a good idea to enquire first before sending your booking/payment the nearer we get to the 14th February 2018
(If tickets remain unsold, later bookings may be accepted depending upon how near we are to the 21st March and whether the restaurant will accept more bookings.)
IMPORTANT: We cannot guarantee any refunds for late cancellations, after the 14th February, unless we have diners on a waiting list
who will not only take the place but also the menu choices you made.

[LAMB] Lamb Shrewsbury - Braised Lamb Shank with Roast Potatoes, Buttered Greens and Shrewsbury Sauce.

[FISH] Battered Cod with Chunky Chips, Garden Peas, Lemon Wedge and Homemade Tartare Sauce.

[LIVER] Pan Fried Lamb's Liver with Crispy Bacon, Bubble and Squeak and Onion Gravy.

[HAM] Honey Glazed Ham with Chunky Chips, Brace of Scatter Brook Farm Eggs, Salad Garnish & Homemade Slaw.

[PIE] Homemade Steak and Ale Suet Pie with Fresh Seasonal Vegetables, Chips and Gravy.

[LENTIL] Lentil and Vegetable Mince Shepherd's Pie with Champ Mash and Seasonal Vegetables. [V]

[FAJITAS] Vegetable Fajitas served with Salsa, Sour Cream, Cheese and Guacamole. [V]


[ETONMESS] Eton Mess - Strawberries, Meringue, Strawberry Coulis and Whipped Cream.

[STICKYTOFFEE] Sticky Toffee Pudding with Ice Cream.

[POSSET] Lemon Posset.

[CHEESE/BISC] Cheese and Biscuits - Cheddar, Dorset Blue Vinny and Smoked Dorset Red with a selection of Biscuits, Apple, Celery and Chutney.

[CHOCPOT] Chocolate Pot - a thicker, creamier version of a Chocolate Mousse.

[BROWNIE] Brownie and Ice Cream.

[CHEESECAKE] Salted Caramel and Peanut Butter Cheesecake served with Pouring Cream. 

Coach Pickup Points:

We have arranged the following pickup points on the evening. We hope these will be near to most peoples houses.
Some times and pickup points may be added or removed according to who is coming on the evening.


The above times are estimates. Please try to be at your pickup point 5 minutes before the listed time as we are often ahead of time. Can you please make sure that we have your mobile phone number when booking and that you have your phone with you and switched on once you have left your house. We will make our contact phone number available to you in case of emergency.
