Local Dining Out Group Event Notification

Join us for our next Local Dining Out Evening at The Avon Causeway Hotel at Hurn
on Wednesday
21st September 2016

Location:  

The Avon Causeway Hotel at Hurn
This hotel is the old Hurn Railway Station still complete with it's platform. The Hotel has been tactfully created around the railway theme. We will be dining in an static, original Pullman Railway Dining Carriage, which is on a very short piece of railway track at the station platform. The hotel is located near to Bournemouth Airport although this cannot usually be heard when dining. We will be returning to this restaurant after a very successsful visit in March 2015.

Dining:   Restaurant
The picture to the left was taken last year before our dining evening started. Tables in the Pullman Carriage are laid for two or four people with six people across the carriage. The carriage retains its traditional theme except chairs have replaced the seating used when the train moved. There are toilets at one end of the carriage. Our dinner will be served by the restaurant staff bringing each course from the adjacent kitchen. The temperature with us all in the carriage soon rises and hopefully everyone will feel very comfortable.

Herrington's Coach Door to Door
We have arranged pick up points as near as possible to where you live, more can be added. Our coach will be from Herrington's Coaches. Our first pick up point is at The Ship in Fordingbridge. Then stops can be arranged at Burgate and Breamore. Our coach will drive to Woodgreen picking up as it enters the village, diverting up the High Street and back to the Horse & Groom. A pickup can be organised at Woodgreen Shop if required. It then goes up to Woodgreen Common & on to Hale and Woodfalls with further pickups en route. Finally it will go on to Morgan's Vale and Downton. Further pickup points can be added at our discretion, along our intended route.


Drinks:   Buy your drinks at the bar on arrival
Our coach will take us to the carpark outside the hotel. Everyone should make their way into the hotel first. Here we will find the main bar, order and pay for our drinks. We will remain near the bar for a while allowing us to chat. It will be important to check with our contact at the hotel before we can go to the Pullman Carriage and choose our seats. The Avon Causeway Hotel stocks Wadworth's Beers with 6X (4.1%) Swordfish (5.0%) and Bishop's Tipple (5.0%) likely. Other soft drinks, cider and Spirits will be available. There is a Wine List (subject to availability)

Menu Choices
An interesting menu this month! We have introduced one or two new main course choices not seen before. Pizza is available for the first time, also Baked Macaroni Cheese. We have favourites of Ham/Egg/Chips/Tomato, Stuffed Belly Pork, Fish & Chips, Beef Stronanoff and also a Beef & Blue Cheese Pie. With six desserts includin a new one - Baked Apricot with Yoghurt and Honey plus Vanilla Ice Cream - along with Cheese & Biscuits, Eton Mess, Posset, Cheescake, also Mousse. Raffle:  

Charity Raffle
Thanks to everyone attending our August Dinner we have now raised our £590 for The ShelterBox Charity. There was even a small amount of £14.38 lefdt over which we have given to Shirley Leary at her Garden Party for The Medical Detection Dogs Charity. At our September Dinner we will be starting to collect for a new charity - The Royal National Lifeboats (RNLI) This will be at least for September/ October but may go on longer depending upon how much we raise. This charity is very well known for the excellent work done protecting and saving lives around our coasts ans sometimes inland when flooding occurs.

Price:

Your ticket for our September 2016 dinner will cost £27.00 per person.

We need to receive your booking, menu choices and payment by early evening on:
Wednesday 14th September 2016
Please try not to leave it until this date as we may be fully booked.

Tickets

We are limited to 30 tickets for our coach. Tickets will be allocated on a first come basis.
Later bookings may be accepted depending upon how near we are to the 21st.
IMPORTANT: We cannot guarantee any refunds for late cancellations, after the 21st September, unless we have diners on a waiting list
who will not only take the place but also the menu choices you made.

Drinks at the restaurant, both alcohol, soft drinks or coffee are not included in your ticket price. Any purchases must be paid
to the restaurant staff on the night.
